My daughter's Protege is making a clicking noise ... I'm not sure what's what on a Protege but it coming from the front of the engine bay and sounds like whatever the front top belt operates ... anyone know what it could be?

Thanks

What motor is it?

What options does the car have?

Does the ticking vary with RPM?

It's a 2 liter automatic, I haven't checked to see if it varies with rpm but the noise doesn't appear to be coming from the engine itself though.

The noise doesn't seem to vary with RPM's and after a little more research I'm thinking it might be the condenser ... can anyone verify that the condenser is located at the left front of the accessory belts?

Do you mean the compressor or the condenser? The compressor is driven by the belts, although that would create an RPM dependent noise.
The condenser is the radiator type looking thing that sits in front of the radiator.

It's not RPM driven, just a steady squeek ... I'll check again once she brings the car back around again.
