What a useless garment.

It serves no functional purpose whatsoever. It does not provide warmth. It does not cover enough frontal area to be sufficient as a bib when eating, and even if it did, you'd have to change it to a clean one.

Think of the sum total of all the productivity that is lost each day tying and untying neckties, and the additional losses where an individual does not know how to tie said necktie, forcing his roommate to tie it for him!

Think of all the wasted energy and resources to produce and sell the useless items!

The wasted creativity to design them!

The European Union Parliament was smart enough to ban neckties so that they could save on air conditioning costs- we should all follow suit.

Men of the world, rise up and throw your neckties to the wind! Free yourselves of their strangling grasp once and for all!

Agree
I spent the last 30 years as an engineer wearing a tie only
when outside people were visiting or when traveling to customer plants

Now, this is an honest to goodness question- where the heck did the necktie come from? Who decided it would be a good idea to tie a useless piece of cloth around mens' necks? For what purpose?

I'm with you. :)

It was only about five years ago that I got tired of being one of the last 500 people in my city to wear a suit to work every day.

Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necktie#1650-1720:_the_Steinkirk) has more than I wanted to know about the history and development of the necktie.

Only 25 and don't like ties already. However, they do provide a nice way to change up the old suit make it look new. Nice ties are also a good way to meet women. They don't seem to notice nice shirts, jackets, or pants. But ties and shoes...winners.
