All,

I just purchased a 91 BRG this month and my badge is installed on the driver door on the speaker panel. I am interested in where most people have/had theirs installed. Most people seem to have them on the ashtray lid, but that isn't an option for me since I have gadgets installed there.

Also, has anyone refinished their Nardi shifter/handbrake? The finish on mine had been neglected by the prior owner and I sanded it down and poly'd the wood since I like the natural wood hidden under the original stain.

(attached image shows the refinished handle and the location of the badge)

I don't use the ashtray (non-smoker). In it's place, I have a cup holder.

I mounted my badge on the lower portion of the steering wheel with double stick tape. As for the shifter / handbrake, haven't refinished either.

Matthew, the "proper" place for the badge is on the console just back from the ashtray. I have a motion sensor for my alarm on the console. I haven't found a place for my badge yet but were yours is seems just fine.

Matthew, I'm curious. Who's name is on the badge? Mick

1991mick,

No name on the badge, which makes me wonder if it is indeed a 91 BRG SE. I just found out about contacting Mazda, so that is my next step. It has changed hands so much that I don't have any of the original documentation.

I seriously hope it isn't a fake, I'll find out soon enough.

Your lucky there is no name on the badge, take it to a trophy shop and have your name put on it. I have to order a replacement from Chuck Price (50 bucks) so I can have my name on it instead of the original owner.

Not that to many people are reading this forum at the moment, but I wanted to let everyone know that Mazda USA responded to my inquiry. My car is a 91 BRG, build number 1885.. Woohoo! Whew, glad I got that off my chest. Now you can all go back to sleep.
