FYI. Attached is a comparison of the USA vs Canadian editions of the 91 BRG.
Most of the information was gleaned from the 1991 BRG MAZDA USA and Mazda Canada brochures, as well as from the Miata.net website, various books, magazine articles and the Wild Rose Miata club website. Any comments for additions or corrections are most welcome.

Tommy T hit the nail on the head when he started the "Is anybody out there?" thread. We need more life on this website.
91brg-1stowner, welcome! The info you provide is interesting. I gotta ask, did you get the personalized number badge when you bought your brg?
Another thing, if you go over to the forum in the NA section, on about the third page, there's a thread entitled "Just purchased my first Miata! 1993 British Racing Green!" The person who posted it lives in Hong Kong. Does anyone know if there was a brg made in 1993 that was only available overseas? Or, maybe it's a typo?

As per one of the items on my features list, unfortunately personalized badges were not available in Canada. It is a bit strange that in Canada, Mazda identified the '91 BRG as a Limited Edition but did not provide a numbering scheme or even identify the number being produced while Mazda USA identified their '91 BRG as a Special Edition but limited the quantity and provided numbered badges. As far as the 1993 BRG in Hong Kong goes, it is probably correct. Mazda features, options. packages, etc. are not standardized across the world. Apparently each country having its own Mazda headquarters has some leeway in what to offer. In Canada, the BRG colour appeared again on the NA Miatas from 1994 through 1997. The BRG could be ordered with the plain black interior or an optional tan leather package during those years. So when you see an NA BRG in Canada, you need to check rather closely to determine if it's a '91 or not.

Let's keep this thread going. How 'bout some info on yours? Is it your DD? How many miles? Any mod's? How does it handle in the snow? Coldest weather you drove with the top down? Etc, etc.

My BRG is not my daily driver. I just use it for pleasure outings in the summer. My wife rides her BMW F650GS motorcycle and I drive the BRG with the picnic hamper. Sometimes we take it up to the cottage which is about 180 miles away. We've also had the occasional overnight weekend trip. I average about 2000 miles a year from May through November. I store it all winter. The roads in southern Ontario are really sloppy with mucky snow and tons of salt in the winter. I have not put any performance mods on the car. I love the way it feels and handles just the way it came from the factory. I replaced the steering wheel with a MOMO "Indy" wooden wheel, upgraded the audio with Clearwater speakers, Clearwater amplifier, and a power antenna, replaced the headlights with the Brain-Storm low profile version, put in a chrome fuel lid and a mesh grill in the mouth. I recently added speed bleeders to simply brake fluid changeout. I have kept the old parts so I can bring it back to original if I need to. How about yours?

Bought mine 3 summers ago. Figured I'd use it for the summer and sell it. Miatamania bit me, and I've had it ever since. Since I've had it, I (or had a shop) installed: new tires / shocks / bumpstops; turbo; clutch / light weight flywheel; 2-1/2" exhaust; refurbished the am / fm / cd player; radiator and water pump (both went out on their own); and sound deadening.
Car's never seen snow. 104k miles when I bought it, 119k now. Like you, not a DD, just a pleasure car. My wife and I enjoy taking it for a ride in the evening or weekends. Going down to Southern Illinois / Indiana next weekend. Hopefully the weather will co-operate.
Anyone want to add to the thread?

I queried Mazda Canada regarding the number of Canadian 1991 BRG Miatas. They have finally responded and the official number is 526, making their designation of it as a Limited Edition quite reasonable. I have updated the USA/Canada comparison chart.
