Bought my brg with 104k miles on it. The passenger side seat was in good shape, not so for the driver's side.

My short term fix was to buy some tan colored vinyl and monster glue it over the tears / openings. It's served it's purpose well, and is still in place.

I have been thinking about doing a better job. Does anyone have any experience with recovering / replacing? Was it a DIY, or hire someone? Cost? Seat covers? If yes, cost?

A tonneau came with mine. It's never been used (still in the box). Has anyone cut theirs up and used it to redo the seats? Anyone interested in trading a tonneau for a tan driver's seat in good condition?

I recently looked quickly for a driver's side BRG seat in excellent condition...hard to find..this could include any NA tan seat up to including 1993 I believe. our 94 had different seat design.
The tans for miata are different from a group of years to another. like NA to NB, different tans as far as I can tell.
If you want to try this project of restuffing the seat and recovering, I think I would shop at a upholstery shop for the tan leather...only the seat and back fronts are leather I think...not sure about that...but something to check on.
If you want it to match you would need the quality of leather on the pass seat. if you would like to upgrade the driver's side leather, you could do that too.
I have a great upholstery shop nearby and no experience in this so given how we value the stock and originality of our BRG, I would have it done.
Good luck.

I was also concerned about wearing out the bolster on the driver's seat in my SE so I found some very nice tan cloth seat covers on ebay that even had the word "Miata" in script on the back. To properly attach them I removed the seats completely which made for a neat installation. This was several years ago and they have not worn or slipped out of position. The added bonus is that they are better in the hot muggy days we get here in New England and they are not as cold as the bare leather in the winter. Actually I stop driving the car once it snows and the salt hits the roads.

Spriteski, any chance you have a name / phone number / email of the company you bought the covers from?

Sorry but that was several years ago and I discarded all the info. I can try and find some manufacturer's tag on the seat covers and let you know.

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. I couldn't find any manufacturer's tag on my covers but I was able to locate a company that does offer them altho I don't think they include the logo. If I recall, aftermarket companies are now prevented from using corporate logos in their items. At least that is the case with much of the stuff I get for my British cars.
Try this website: www.autosportcatalog.com or call them at 800-726-1199.
Hope this helps.

Spriteski,

Tanx! I'll call them on Monday (call me old fashioned, but I like to talk to live people).
