Well, For the first thread in the coffeeshop we might as wel talk about coffee. What kind do you like, how do you like it, what stores make a passable cup o' joe, etc.
Personally I like do drink bolder roasts, black and extra strong. The fresher the better. Unfortunately there aren't many good roasters near me, so I use starbucks whole bean a lot of time.
Speaking of which, Starbucks seems to be the only national place that can actually brew a decent cup of coffee.

Lol - I was sorta hoping the first post might be Mazda related, but hey, its a start.
I drink Starbucks at home where I can control the grind and the brew. But at their shops, they're inconsistent. A lot of them burn the crap out of it, making it bitter and undrinkable.
I like the Arabian Sanani.

Arabian Sanani is awesome. I just finished off a pound of that myself. I also like Sumatra, or even better, Aged Sumatra.
I've also found SBUX to be somewhat inconsistant, so I normally just order an Americano (espresso & water) becasue it seems to be more consistantly good.

I grind my own. I buy the beans in bulk at the local Acme, although I'm trying to find a higher-quality source.
I scored (for $7) a Cuisinart grind and brew deluxe at the Salvation Army store, so now all I have to do is dump in the beans and the water and program it for the morning. I set the temperature down a couple notches and I love it.
I don't drink a lot of coffee, but if I pick some up, my preference in national chains is Dunkin Donuts, specifically their flavored coffees. I can't stand Starbucks. My wife and went to one recently, just because we were in the area and she wanted an iced coffee drink of some kind, so I got something while there, too. I had to take it home and modify it to make it drinkable. :( I can't say I've ever had anything decent at a Starbucks. More often than not, though, I'd prefer the little local shops over the national chains.
On the rare occasion that I make coffee at home, I am currently going through a bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee (small bag, thought I'd try). It's ok, I guess. I used to enjoy the coffee my Aunt sent to us from Hawaii, but I can't find it locally, and I somehow lost like three bags of it when we moved. :(

Two questions Hobie,
#1) Is that the same Acme at the end of 4 that you (possibly erroniously) told me to stop at while shirking the delaware tolls, because I don't trust any supermarket with it's own franchise coffeeshop to sell decent whole beans in the isles, when they can rack up higher profits at the coffeeshop. (thanks anyway for the advice)
#2) Is the grinder in that Cuisanart a burr or blade grinder? Burr grinders are more expensive, but givea consistent size, giving you consistent quality coffee, whereas blade grinders just pulverize the coffee, so you get some powder and som big chunks, which lets a lot more of the beans bitterness through.

#1- Yes, the Acme on Elkton Road, and yes, it has a Starbucks in it, but I don't really have too much problem with their beans. FWIW, they also sell Dunkin' Donuts coffee and whole beans.
#2- Blade. I know. Inferior to the burr grinder. I have a hand-crank burr grinder, (another Salvation Army score) but I'm too lazy to use it.

This (http://www.counterculturecoffee.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=508&Itemid=75) is what I drink. They are one of the best independent roasters in the world. Better quality, morals, and taste than Starfarts for sure. The coffee shop that I manage uses CC beans, so I have a good supply at home. :D
I use a press pot. It's actually quicker and easier than using a traditional coffee pot.
