A laptop on a desk. Plugged into some regular computer speakers sometimes, but not always. I'm not a real high-tech type person.
My roommate has a set of speakers like that. Actually two sets.

3 year old HP pavilion Laptop with a 15.4" screen and a Athlon 3200, trying to schmooze somebody into upping the ram from 256m to a gig or two so I can try out World of Warcraft.

an old computer connected to my Panasonic Viera 32" LCD TV via DVI-HDMI cable. speakers are Logitech Z5500D, one of only two Logitech models with proper 5.1 optical audio. pc also has a high definition digital TV tuner too. does all i want it too, don't care too much bout pc power anymore since i don't play PC games, as you can see i'm a console gamer with Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, Sony PSP 2000 (the one with tv output), PS2, & an Xbox (not seen in photo since my brother borrowed it). next computer will most likely be a laptop to reduce the cable sphagetti mess back there, maybe an Apple Macbook Air perhaps.

My Desktop is a bit old as I primarily use a laptop now... Now, keep in mind I originally built this machine almost 8 years ago and it's been a steady stream of updates since, the last one being about 6 months ago.
Dual 1.4 Ghz P3s
2 GB Low latency DDR Ram (PC 2100)
4 - 80Gb SATA hard drives in a RAID 5 -- promise RAID controller (256 mb cache, hardware XOR engine)
Radeon 9800 pro
22" Viewsonic widescreen monitor
1987 IBM Model M keyboard
Windows XP SP3 beta
I think I've pretty much taken the P3 Desktop platform as far as it can go -- The lack of PCI Express slots keeps me from upgrading anymore. The next round of upgrades will need to be a completely fresh rebuild, that's probably a couple years off.
