Did the Tribute ever have "real" 4wd?

With a transfer case and all? Just curious. I know the current configuration is FWD/AWD, wondering if it was ever RWD/4wd.

Our AWD Tribute is FWD with a rear diff added. I don't think a RWD option was ever available since it is truly a Front Wheel Drive assembly.

I haven't inspected the drive train all that close, but I believe that it is not posi-traction, just an open with all four wheels pulling.

That's what I figured. I know the current model isn't transfer-case equipped, I was sort of hoping that maybe a past one was. Oh well.
