Hello, is this the right place for a truck question?
If so, anyone know if the 4 cyl engine in my 2001 B-2300 is a "non-interfering" type, like my MX-5 ?
Should I worry about the timing belt, and engine damage if/when it blows?
TIA

That's a relief.
Thanks!

BUT...........I wouldn't use that as an excuse to ignore maintenance. It may not ruin your engine if it breaks but it may very well ruin your day depending on where you are when it decides enough is enough

I concur. An engine being non-interference is a nice thing for peace of mind, but I sure wouldn't ignore the timing belt. Even if you have AAA or whatever and the tow is free, it renders the vehicle inoperable, and will occur with little or no warning. Then you must do the work ASAP to regain the vehicle's functionality, and it may not be convenient in terms of time/money constraints when it does decide to give up the ghost. So, let it ride an extra 3-5000 miles until time and/or money permits it to be done? Sure, why not. But let it go until it breaks? No way.
